TO CONGRATULATE THE AAA (SABCS) HOMESCHOOL BAND OF AIKEN ON THE TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FOUNDING AND TO WISH PAST AND PRESENT MEMBERS A JOYFUL CELEBRATORY REUNION.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the AAA (SABCS) Homeschool Band of Aiken will hold a reunion June 14-15, 2019, in celebration of the group's twentieth anniversary; and

Whereas, the AAA Band was started in 1999 to provide a venue for homeschooled students to learn to play a musical instrument and perform in a group setting. Averaging thirty members, the group owns a roster of musicians ranging from grade five through grade twelve. In 2014, a band program was started at South Aiken Baptist Christian School, and today the two bands combine for annual Christmas and spring concerts. Members rehearse weekly; and

Whereas, being very community-minded, the combined band performs for Memorial Day parades and observances, Veterans Day observances, Fourth of July concerts, Aiken's Makin', Chamber of Commerce/Aiken Performing Arts Center, Very Special Arts, the Christmas parade, Breezy Hill Christmas Lights, Wreaths Across America, retirement homes, Aiken's National Day of Prayer observance, Aiken's One Table event on Thanksgiving Day, and other events around Aiken; and

Whereas, at its 2019 twentieth-anniversary reunion, the AAA (SABCS) Homeschool Band will gather on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, to get reacquainted, rehearse, and present a Saturday-night concert in the gym at South Aiken Baptist Christian School. Prior to the concert, a festive supper for all former members and their families and friends will be held. Members will display band memorabilia and other items to add to everyone's enjoyment. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the AAA (SABCS) Homeschool Band of Aiken on the twentieth anniversary of its founding and wish past and present members a joyful celebratory reunion.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the AAA (SABCS) Homeschool Band.
