A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE R. B. STALL HIGH SCHOOL IN
CHARLESTON FOR WINNING THE STATE NATIONAL
BICENTENNIAL COMPETITION SPONSORED BY THE SOUTH
CAROLINA BAR LAW RELATED EDUCATION COMMITTEE.
Whereas, on January 9, 1992, R. B. Stall High School in Charleston,
South Carolina, participated in the state level National Bicentennial
Competition (NBC); and
Whereas, the R. B. Stall High School NBC team has been declared state
champion in this competition; and
Whereas, this competition is funded by the National Commission on the
Bicentennial of the United States Constitution under an act of Congress;
and
Whereas, these students will represent South Carolina in the national
competition April 25-27, 1992, in Washington, D.C.; and
Whereas, in preparation for the competition students studied an intensive
curriculum on the Bill of Rights entitled "With Liberty and Justice
For All"; and
Whereas, the competition included rigorous questioning by judges
requiring high level analytic skills and the application of constitutional
law and theory to contemporary situations; and
Whereas, these students and their teacher sponsor, Karen Cabe Gibson,
are to be commended for their hard work and dedication in mastering
this stringent academic program. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That R. B. Stall High School of Charleston is congratulated for winning
the state competition in the National Bicentennial Competition
sponsored by the South Carolina Bar Law Related Education
Committee.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the
principal of R. B. Stall High School and to Karen Cabe Gibson at R. B.
Stall High School, Charleston, South Carolina.
