A BILL

TO PROVIDE THAT THE CHIEF INSURANCE COMMISSIONER SHALL REQUIRE A REDUCTION IN MOTOR VEHICLE LIABILITY INSURANCE RATES FOR A THREE-YEAR PERIOD FOR ANY PERSON WHO VOLUNTARILY PreviousATTENDSNext AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT PREVENTION COURSE APPROVED BY THE COMMISSIONER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The Chief Insurance Commissioner shall require a reduction in motor vehicle liability insurance rates for a three-year period for any person who voluntarily PreviousattendsNext and successfully completes a motor vehicle accident prevention course which is approved by the commissioner. The reduction shall be for any individually owned vehicle classified as private passenger and shall be in proportion to the number who have completed the course in the event that not all members of a group have completed the course. Voluntary PreviousattendanceNext shall not include any Previousattendance ordered as permitted by a court or required by the Department of Highways and Public Transportation pursuant to any departmental regulations or pursuant to any violation of the laws of this State.

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
