A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Providence Athletic Conference (PAC) Panthers varsity and junior varsity football teams and coaches FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2023 Southeastern Independent Football Association CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Providence Athletic Conference (PAC) Panthers varsity and junior varsity football teams took top honors at the Southeastern Independent Football Association (SIFA) at Bray Park in West Columbia on Saturday, November 18, 2023; and

Whereas, to the cheers of their exuberant fans, the PAC Panthers football teams both defeated fine, competitive teams to take the association's title for both teams. The junior varsity team compiled a 9-1 record, including defeating two varsity teams with their only defeat against a varsity team, and a 5-0 record in the conference. The varsity team finished the season with a 14-2 record, with a 5-0 record in the conference, and its second consecutive SIFA championship; and

Whereas, the PAC Panthers varsity team played for the national championship for eight-man football in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and finished the season as the national runner-up in the final NHSA rankings. The Panthers had thirteen players named to post-season All-American Bowl games. Over the last two seasons, the Panthers' varsity team has finished with a combined 25-3 record and has won back-to-back SIFA Championships; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires strength, expertise, and determination, Head Coach Timothy Youmans and his skilled coaching staff maximized their own athletic experience and passion to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the gridiron; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives values the pride and recognition that the PAC football players have brought to their community and the State, and the members look forward to following their continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Providence Athletic Conference (PAC) Panthers varsity and junior varsity football teams and coaches for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2023 Southeastern Independent Football Association Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Timothy Youmans.
