A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
EXTENDING HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS TO LEGARE HAY FOR CAPTURING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE FOR THE HOOP SHOOT COMPETITION AND TO WISH HIM THE VERY BEST IN HIS UPCOMING COMPETITIONS.
Whereas, Legare Hay of Charleston has captured the title of State Champion of the Hoop Shoot Competition sponsored by the Elks Club; and
Whereas, after two previous trips to the State Finals, his dedicated practice, perseverance, and outstanding athletic ability served him exceedingly well; and
Whereas, throughout the competition Legare demonstrated intense concentration, exceptional confidence, and extraordinary poise resulting in a brilliant performance in his quest for the title; and
Whereas, Legare hit 19 out of 25 free throws which tied him for the State Title with a contestant from Hilton Head; and
Whereas, the tie breaker created "edge-of-your seat" excitement while the final moments produced a magnificent winner with Legare prevailing by hitting 4 out of 5 free throws; and
Whereas, on March 16, Legare is headed to Valdosta, Georgia for the Regional Finals; and
Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to have this opportunity to recognize this fine young man for his perseverance and hard work in achieving this outstanding athletic accomplishment. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That, by this resolution, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly extend hearty congratulations to Legare Hay for capturing the State Championship Title for the Hoop Shoot Competition and to wish him the very best in his upcoming competitions.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Legare Hay.
