THE COMMITTEE ON
INVITATIONS AND MEMORIAL
RESOLUTIONS
To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 3644),
memorializing the Congress of the United States to equalize among
the states the distribution of federal gasoline taxes, etc., respectfully
REPORT:
That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and
recommend that the same do pass:
RICHARD M. QUINN, JR., for Committee.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
MEMORIALIZING THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES
TO EQUALIZE AMONG THE STATES THE DISTRIBUTION OF
FEDERAL GASOLINE TAXES CONTRIBUTED TO THE
FEDERAL HIGHWAY TRUST FUND.
Whereas, in 1995 South Carolina received fifty-two cents of each
dollar it contributed in federal gasoline taxes to the Federal Highway
Trust Fund; and
Whereas, for the past five years, South Carolina has averaged a return
of seventy-five cents on each dollar contributed to the Federal
Highway Trust Fund; and
Whereas, most states receive more than each dollar contributed to the
Federal Highway Trust Fund. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the Congress of the United States expeditiously pass legislation
that equalizes the distribution to each state of federal gas taxes
contributed to the Federal Highway Trust Fund.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the
President of the United States Senate, and each member of this state's
Congressional Delegation.
