A Concurrent Resolution to express the deepest sympathy of the members of the
General Assembly to the family and many friends of one of this State's most
respected citizens, George Anderson Douglas Sr. of Rock Hill, who passed away
Friday, March 3, 1995.

A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS
OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND
MANY FRIENDS OF ONE OF THIS STATE'S MOST
RESPECTED CITIZENS, GEORGE ANDERSON DOUGLAS SR.
OF ROCK HILL, WHO PASSED AWAY FRIDAY, MARCH 3,
1995.
Whereas, Mr. Douglas was a photographer in Rock Hill for 43
years who captured special moments for the people of his
community during the most important times of their lives and was
involved in the taking of thousands of Winthrop College yearbook
pictures; and
Whereas, Mr. Douglas operated his own photography studio and
later donated his equipment to both Winthrop University and the
McCelvey Center so that others could benefit from his work; and
Whereas, Mr. Douglas was honored for his contributions to his
community by friend and fellow photographer, Mr. Richard
Johnson, who was responsible for having March 23, 1993, declared
as "George Douglas Day" by Mayor Betty Jo Rhea; and
Whereas, Mr. George Anderson Douglas Sr. passed away Friday,
March 3, 1995, at the Ebenezer Nursing Center and is survived by
his wife, Virginia Douglas; and
Whereas, Mr. Douglas was one of the last of the old masters, was a
great friend to his community, and was considered by all who knew
him to be a man who loved both life and people. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives
concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly express their deepest
sympathy to the family and many friends of Mr. George Anderson
Douglas upon his passing.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
the family of Mr. Douglas.
