 ROLE IN TRAINING COUNTRY HOUSE, THE 2019 WINNER OF THE KENTUCKY DERBY.

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE TRAVIS AND ASHLEY DURR, OWNERS OF THE WEBB CARROLL TRAINING CENTER AND THE STAFF OF THE CENTER, FOR THEIR ROLE IN TRAINING COUNTRY HOUSE, THE 2019 WINNER OF THE KENTUCKY DERBY.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Webb Carroll Training Center in St. Matthews helped to train the 2019 Kentucky Derby winner Country House; and

Whereas, the training center built in the 1950s by Issac Prickett became the Webb Carroll Training Center in 1984 and was sold in 2016 to Travis and Ashley Durr who had worked for the former owner, Webb Carroll, for eleven years prior to purchasing it; and

Whereas, the center has trained two Kentucky Derby winners in its history, War Emblem in 2002 and Country House in 2019, as well as Harve De'grace, the Horse of the Year in 2011 and Abel Tasman, the 2017 Kentucky Oaks winner; and

Whereas, Country House received training at the facility from January until July of 2018, which is the first time that the Durrs and their wonderful staff have played an active part in training a successful Kentucky Derby winner; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition that the Webb Carroll Training Center has brought to this State, and the members look to hear of Travis and Ashley Durr's and their staff's continued success in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Travis and Ashley Durr, owners of the Webb Carroll Training Center and the staff of the center, for their role in training Country House, the 2019 winner of the Kentucky Derby.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Travis and Ashley Durr.
