A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND MITCHELL DAVIS OF THE TANGLEWOOD
COMMUNITY IN GREENVILLE COUNTY FOR HIS COURAGE
AND BRAVERY IN RESCUING TWO PEOPLE FROM A BURNING
CAR IN A TRAGIC ACCIDENT WHICH TOOK THE LIVES OF
TWO OTHER PEOPLE.
Whereas, on Saturday, April 4, 1992, in the Tanglewood community in
western Greenville County, a car veered off the side of a road and
smashed into a tree; and
Whereas, near the scene of this terrible accident was Mitchell Davis, an
employee of the Krieger Corporation in Travelers Rest; and
Whereas, with complete disregard for his personal safety, he ran toward
the burning car and pulled Andy Ray Smith and his four-year old
daughter, Christy, from the wreckage and was attempting to pull another
child from the wreckage at the time the car exploded taking her life and
that of another adult; and
Whereas, the actions of Mitchell Davis on this terrible Saturday
afternoon are a testament to his courage, bravery, and uncompromising
faith in the grace of God; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution,
would like to publicly recognize and commend this fine man for his
courageous efforts in saving the lives of two fellow human beings and
in attempting to save the lives of two other fellow human beings. Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Mitchell
Davis of the Tanglewood community in Greenville County for his
courage and bravery in rescuing two people from a burning car in a
tragic accident which took the lives of two other people.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr.
Davis.
