THE COMMITTEE ON INVITATIONS

To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 3374) to recognize and salute the PreviouscourageousNext people of Iraq who, because of their unrelenting desire for freedom, will vote on Sunday, January 30, 2005, to elect their new, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

Has polled the Concurrent Resolution out majority favorable.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND SALUTE THE PreviousCOURAGEOUSNext PEOPLE OF IRAQ WHO, BECAUSE OF THEIR UNRELENTING DESIRE FOR FREEDOM, WILL VOTE ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 30, 2005, TO ELECT THEIR NEW LEADERS.

Whereas, for the first time in more than three decades, the people of Iraq are released from the chains of a brutal dictatorship, and they will participate in a free and democratic process to elect the government and leadership of their choice; and

Whereas, this freedom has been hard won by the liberty-loving nations of the world; and

Whereas, brave American patriots have paid the ultimate price in securing freedom and we salute and appreciate the American servicemen and women and their families who are sacrificing to pass on this precious gift; and

Whereas, planting the seeds of democracy in this region is sure to grow the flowers of freedom in surrounding nations and across our globe; and

Whereas, it is the sense of the General Assembly that the United States must continue to provide leadership around the world, and we must finish our duty in Iraq; and

Whereas, the General Assembly salutes the PreviouscourageousNext people of Iraq who refuse to be thwarted or intimated by the enemies of liberty as they exercise their newly recognized right and vote on Sunday. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and salute the Previouscourageous people of Iraq who, because of their unrelenting desire for freedom, will vote on Sunday, January 30, 2005, to elect their new leaders.
