 SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO MS. DEBBIE DILLS OF GASTONIA, NORTH CAROLINA, FOR HER
 DILIGENCE AND COURAGE IN HELPING TO APPREHEND DYLANN ROOF.

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND GRATITUDE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO MS. DEBBIE DILLS OF GASTONIA, NORTH CAROLINA, FOR HER DILIGENCE AND COURAGE IN HELPING TO APPREHEND DYLANN ROOF.

Whereas, as Ms. Debbie Dills was on her way to work at Frady's Florist on Thursday morning, June 18, 2015, she noticed a black sedan traveling on Highway 74 in Gastonia, North Carolina; and

Whereas, after seeing news coverage of the suspected killer of nine the previous evening, Mrs. Dills recognized the car and haircut of the driver. She called her boss, Todd Frady, who contacted law enforcement; and

Whereas, Ms. Dills then exited the interstate to go to work, but immediately did not feel right about the situation, so she made a U-turn to reenter the interstate and made an attempt to catch up with the black Hyundai; and

Whereas, shortly thereafter, only twenty minutes after the initial call was made to law enforcement, Dylann Roof was apprehended by the Shelby Police Department; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate are forever indebted to Ms. Dills for her diligence in following Dylann Roof for approximately thirty-five miles, and for the heroism and courage she exercised in contacting law enforcement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, express their profound gratitude to Ms. Debbie Dills of Gastonia, North Carolina, for her diligence and courage in helping to apprehend Dylann Roof.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Debbie Dills.
