POLICE OFFICER PERRIN RICHARD "RICKY" LOVE, WHO WAS KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY, MANY FRIENDS, AND COLLEAGUES OF CITY OF CHARLESTON POLICE OFFICER PERRIN RICHARD "RICKY" LOVE, WHO WAS KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY ON MAY 21, 1999.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were saddened to learn that on the morning of May 21, 1999, Officer Perrin Richard "Ricky" Love, a City of Charleston Police Officer, was killed in the line of duty; and
Whereas, this fine law enforcement officer, born in Wiona, Minnesota, was a graduate of Lexington High School, Lander University, and graduated first in his class from the Department of Justice's Police Corps Program; and
Whereas, it is a difficult and hazardous calling to be charged with the responsibility of enforcing the law, and it requires brave men and women of courage and dedication to perform this task; and
Whereas, Officer Love was such a person, and his courage, devotion to duty, and love for his chosen profession will be a continued source of inspiration for law enforcement officers throughout South Carolina; and
Whereas, he not only was an outstanding officer, but also had a distinguished career as an intelligence specialist with the United States Navy, was a member of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, and was a member of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt condolences to Officer Love's parents, other members of his family, his many friends, and colleagues upon the tragic and untimely death of this truly, outstanding South Carolinian. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family, many friends, and colleagues of City of Charleston Police Officer, Perrin Richard "Ricky" Love, who was killed in the line of duty on May 21, 1999.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the parents of Officer Love.
