A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER HAROLD E. (SPEEDY) WILSON, SR., USMC (RET.).

Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Chief Warrant Officer Harold E. (Speedy) Wilson, Sr., USMC (Ret.), and

Whereas, in a Marine Corps career that saw service in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation's highest decoration for gallantry in combat; and

Whereas, a complete list of Chief Warrant Officer Wilson's awards and decorations include: The Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V", the Purple Heart with four Gold Stars indicative of five awards, two Presidential Unit Citations, the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three battle stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal with one star, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Navy Achievement Medal with Combat "V", Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Citation Ribbon, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm; and

Whereas, upon retirement from the Marine Corps, he served with great distinction with the Veterans Administration; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they may honor the memory of a man whose life was an exemplar of honor and courage in the service of our country and add their voices to those extending sympathy to his family and friends and expressing appreciation for his service and sacrifice. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That, by this resolution, the members of the Senate express sympathy to the family and many friends of the late Chief Warrant Officer Harold E. (Speedy) Wilson, Sr., USMC (Ret.).

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Chief Warrant Officer Harold E. Wilson, USMC (Ret.).
