A SENATE
RESOLUTION
COMMENDING MS. MARY MATHIS, FOOD SERVICE
SUPERVISOR AT THE BROAD RIVER CORRECTIONAL
INSTITUTION, FOR HER COURAGE AND BRAVERY DURING
A MAIN DISTURBANCE AT THE INSTITUTION ON APRIL
17, 1995.
Whereas, Ms. Mary Mathis is Food Service Supervisor at the Broad
River Correctional Institution; and
Whereas, she displayed great courage and bravery during a main
disturbance at the institution on April 17, 1995, as she endured
eleven long hours of being held hostage; and
Whereas, the selfless actions of this outstanding state employee
reflects great credit upon her, the Department of Corrections, and
the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution,
commends Ms. Mary Mathis, Food Service Supervisor at the Broad
River Correctional Institution, for her courage and bravery during a
main disturbance at the institution on April 17, 1995.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Ms. Mathis.
