A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE DR. CHERYL GRANT OF WALTERBORO UPON THE OCCASION OF HER GRADUATION FROM THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA ON MAY 18, 2001, WITH A DOCTOR OF MEDICINE DEGREE AND TO WISH HER EVERY SUCCESS IN HER FUTURE YEARS AND IN THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE.

Whereas, Cheryl Grant is a native of Walterboro, South Carolina. An excellent student, Cheryl graduated from Walterboro High School in 1993 and from the College of Charleston in 1997 where she majored in biology; and

Whereas, on May 18, 2001, Cheryl Grant graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston with a doctor of medicine degree after going through the building blocks of science and then two years of clinics and working in hospitals for hands-on experience; and

Whereas, Dr. Grant credits her success to the support of her mother who inspired her to follow her dreams, her advanced science teacher at Walterboro High School, Arlene Finney-el, who made biology a lot of fun, and Tin Hsu, whom Grant worked with as an undergraduate at the College of Charleston; and

Whereas, a "can do spirit" will allow one to follow their dreams, Dr. Grant summed it up by saying "my education and my graduation just goes to show that no matter what your situation, you can do it. The only thing that can limit you is you;" and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased with the success of this young talented woman who has set and reached high educational and professional goals for herself but who is not resting on her laurels and will continue to dedicate her life to her fellow man and community through the noble practice of medicine. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Cheryl Grant of Walterboro upon the occasion of her graduation form the Medical University of South Carolina on May 18, 2001, with a doctor of medicine degree and wish her every success in her future years and in the practice of medicine.
