TO HONOR NANCY BISHOP, DIRECTOR OF LEARNING RESOURCES AT CENTRAL CAROLINA TECHNICAL COLLEGE, FOR HER ACHIEVEMENTS IN BRINGING TECHNOLOGY TO THE CAMPUS AND TO CONGRATULATE HER FOR BEING HONORED AS THE A. WADE MARTIN INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA TECHNICAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the General Assembly recognizes those individuals who facilitate the education of South Carolina's youth, assuring a brighter, more successful future for our state and nation; and

Whereas, Nancy Bishop certainly stands out as one such individual, as her outstanding work as Director of Learning Resources as Central Carolina Technical College has meant that students are better prepared to meet the demands of a rapidly changing workforce, equipped with knowledge of only the newest and best technology; and

Whereas, Nancy Bishop was recognized for this commitment with the A. Wade Martin Innovator of the Year Award, given annually to one full-time employee of a state-supported technical college by the South Carolina Technical College System Foundation; and

Whereas, as director of learning resources, she helps ensure the college's faculty and staff are up to speed on the technology the college uses in the classroom and oversees the school's online courses. She is the first individual from Central Carolina to receive this honor; and

Whereas, under her leadership and vision, the school now has an overwhelming amount of "smart classrooms", equipped with projector screens and televisions, and online course registration has seen a dramatic increase in recent years; and

Whereas, instilling in her coworkers and in the student body a desire to learn more about changing technology, Nancy Bishop goes well beyond her assigned duties in empowering others to achieve and reach their full potential; and

Whereas, the students and faculty of Central Carolina Technical College are fortunate to have such an innovative person on staff, and the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and honor her upon her receipt of this truly deserved award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor Nancy Bishop, Director of Learning Resources at Central Carolina Technical College, for her achievements in bringing technology to the campus and congratulate her for being honored as the A. Wade Martin Innovator of the Year by the South Carolina Technical Education Association.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Nancy Bishop.
