 A Bill to amend Act 593 of 1978, generally known as the Freedom of Information
 Act, so as to provide that certain documents in the possession of individual
 members of the General Assembly or their immediate staffs shall be exempt from
 the provisions of the Act.-at

AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 593 OF 1987, GENERALLY KNOWN AS THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT CERTAIN DOCUMENTS IN THE POSSESSION OF INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OR THEIR IMMEDIATE STAFFS SHALL BE EXEMPT FROM THE PROVISIONS ACT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Fee

Section 1. Subsection (a) of Section 5 of Act 593 of 1978 is amended by adding:

"(8) Memoranda, correspondence and working papers in the possession of individual members of the General Assembly or their immediate staffs; provided, however, nothing herein shall be construed as limiting or restricting public access to source documents or records, factual data or summaries of factual data, papers, minutes or reports otherwise considered to be public information under the provisions of this act and specifically exempted by any other provisions of this act."

Time Effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
