A Bill to amend Section 15-3-640, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976,
relating to certain legal actions against architects, professional engineers
and contractors for improper or negligent improvements to real property, so as
to bar such causes of action against architects, engineers, surveyors,
developers, contractors, owners of real property and persons having an
interest therein, and persons furnishing materials for use therein or sureties
of the foregoing after elapse of ten years after substantial completion of the
improvements to the real property; to amend Section 15-3-650, relating to
certain other legal actions against such persons, so as to correct an
inaccurate citation therein and to amend Section 15-3-670, relating to what
persons to whom the above defenses shall be available, so as to provide that
such defenses shall not be available to owners of real property or to persons
in possession or control thereof who have knowledge or should have had
knowledge of the deficiency in such property.
