 A Bill to amend Section 8-11-90, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976,
 relating to federal tax withholding for state employees, so as to provide that
 the Budget and Control Board designees shall be the authorized agencies to
 deduct such taxes.

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 8-11-90, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO FEDERAL TAX WITHHOLDING FOR STATE EMPLOYEES, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD DESIGNEES SHALL BE THE AUTHORIZED AGENCIES TO DEDUCT SUCH TAXES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Budget and Control Board to make deductions

Section 1. Section 8-11-90 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 8-11-90. The Comptroller General, or any state department, institution, or agency of state government authorized by the State Budget and Control Board to make disbursements from their own bank accounts shall make deductions for taxes required to be deducted or withheld by the federal government, from the compensation of state employees, and pay over to the Director of Internal Revenue, or any agency designated to receive such funds, all collections so deducted or withheld."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
