 A Bill to amend Sections 57-1-10, as amended, 57-3-30 and 57-3-610, as
 amended, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to the State Highways
 and Public Transportation Commission and the South Carolina Department of
 Highways and Public Transportation, so as to define "public transportation
 project", to provide for an additional principal division in the Department of
 Highways and Public Transportation, the Public Transportation Division, to
 delete references to federal funds designated by statute to be administered by
 the Governor, to empower the Department to plan, develop, and administer
 general public transportation projects and programs and to act as agent for
 the State and its political subdivisions in the administration of federal and
 state funds and to allow use of miscellaneous receipts of the Department of
 Highways and Public Transportation to be used for general transportation
 purposes; to amend the 1976 Code by adding Section 57-3-60, so as to provide
 the powers and duties of the Division of Public Transportation of the
 Department of Highways and Public Transportation; to amend Act 82 of 1977, as
 amended, relating to the Interagency Council on Public Transportation, so as
 to provide that the Council shall elect one of its members as Chairman who
 shall serve as a member of the State Highway and Public Transportation
 Commission, Ex Officio, to delete references to the Interagency Council in
 provisions relating to review of applications for state or federal funds and
 to change the responsibilities of Executive Assistant to the Council and
 funding of the Council activities; and to amend Act 197 of 1979, as amended,
 relating to ex officio members of the State Highway and Public Transportation
 Commission, so as to add the Chairman of the Interagency Council on Public
 Transportation as an ex officio member.
