A Bill to provide that no disposal of low-level radioactive waste is permitted
in South Carolina except that generators in this State of low-level
radioactive waste are authorized to provide for temporary nonpermanent storage
of this waste on the site of generation under those regulations promulgated by
the Department of Health and Environmental Control, and to provide that the
provisions of this Act shall take effect January 1, 1986, unless the Congress
of the United States has ratified the terms of the Southeast Interstate
Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Compact on or before October 1, 1985.
