A BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976,
BY ADDING SECTION 59-31-70 SO AS TO REQUIRE THAT
FUNDS APPROPRIATED ANNUALLY FOR SCHOOL
TEXTBOOKS BE USED TO PURCHASE TEXTBOOKS OR
MATERIALS ADOPTED BY THE STATE BOARD OF
EDUCATION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 31, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is
amended by adding:
"Section 59-31-70. Funds provided in the annual General
Appropriation Act for textbooks, under the State Department of
Education, must be used to purchase textbooks or materials adopted by
the State Board of Education."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
