A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE SOUTH CAROLINA ARTS
COMMISSION ON ITS ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATING TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF CONTRIBUTING TO AN IMPROVED QUALITY
OF LIFE THROUGH THE ARTS FOR ALL SOUTH CAROLINIANS.
Whereas, the South Carolina Arts Commission is celebrating twenty-five
years of state support of the arts, which has assured the growth of the
arts as a viable, productive, and necessary element of life in
communities across South Carolina; and
Whereas, South Carolina has gained national recognition for its support
of the arts through such unique offerings as the Governor's School for
the Arts and Spoleto Festival USA, and through various Arts
Commission programs, such as the Arts in Basic Curriculum program,
recreational Media Arts Center, State Art Collection, Cultural Visions
for Rural Communities, and Design Arts; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Arts Commission and its Silver
Anniversary partners, artists, arts organizations, educators, patrons, and
audiences, are recognizing and thanking those individuals and
organizations who have provided leadership and support for the arts in
South Carolina over the past twenty-five years; and
Whereas, the week of May 1-8, 1992, has been proclaimed by Governor
Carroll A. Campbell, Jr., as "State Arts Week". Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the South
Carolina Arts Commission on its anniversary celebrating twenty-five
years of contributing to an improved quality of life through the arts for
all South Carolinians.
