TO CONGRATULATE THE DORMAN HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM FOR AN IMPRESSIVE SEASON AND TO CELEBRATE THE CAVALIERS' CAPTURE OF THE 2018 CLASS AAAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. Whereas, on May 19, 2018, the Dorman High School baseball team claimed the 2018 Class AAAAA State Championship title with a 14-4 victory, powering past River Bluff at Lander's Dolney Stadium; and Whereas, Dorman (25-8 overall) used a quick start to defeat River Bluff and end its baseball title drought. The Cavaliers scored eight runs in the first inning of the deciding game of the title series; and
Whereas, it's Dorman's second title in school history, with the other coming in 1971, and the first state title for Coach Jack Whereas, by the time the players had claimed their newest crown, Dorman fans were already making plans to return next year to see their team repeat the feat; and Whereas, demonstrating courage, drive, and pure heart, Dorman turned in a marvelous performance of teamwork, keeping the excited crowd enthralled; and
Whereas, using his own considerable athletic training and skills, Coach
Whereas, as a team, the Cavaliers earned some enviable honors at season's end, including a #11 USA Today national ranking. Individually, Tanner McCallister was named HSSR Player of the Year, DP 5A Pitcher of the Year, HSSR Mr. Baseball, and Mr. DP Player of the Year; Whereas, proud of these fine student athletes, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the recognition the Dorman High School baseball players have brought to their school and community, and the members look to hear of many more victories for the school in coming seasons. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Dorman High School baseball team for an impressive season and celebrate the Cavaliers' capture of the 2018 Class AAAAA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Ken Kiser and Coach
