HIGH SCHOOL AND THE PROMISE THEY SHOW FOR STUDIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION.
05/15/02 Senate Introduced and adopted SJ-7
A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE THE RECIPIENTS OF THE 2002 PALMETTO FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND THE PROMISE THEY SHOW FOR STUDIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION.
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly established the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Program to foster scholarship among the state's postsecondary students and to retain outstanding South Carolina high school graduates in the State through awards based on scholarship and achievement; and
Whereas, the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Program is an important incentive that helps encourage South Carolina's "best and brightest" students to attend eligible colleges or universities in the Palmetto State; and
Whereas, the State of South Carolina has awarded Palmetto Fellows Scholarships since 1988 to over 3800 students; and
Whereas, the Governor of South Carolina has proclaimed May 15, 2002, as Palmetto Fellows Day honoring the 2002 Palmetto Fellows Scholarship recipients for their commitment to personal excellence. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor and congratulate the recipients of the 2002 Palmetto Fellows Scholarship for their outstanding academic achievements in high school and the promise they show for studies in higher education.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to each 2002 Palmetto Fellow.
