A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF MR. COLIE L.
LYNCH OF WEST COLUMBIA WHO DIED DURING THE
LEGISLATIVE INTERIM.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened
to learn of the death during the legislative interim of Mr. Colie L. Lynch
of West Columbia at the age of eighty; and
Whereas, Colie Lynch was born and lived all his life in Lexington
County where he served his community in many varied and valuable
ways; and
Whereas, he was a stalwart of the Lexington County Democratic Party
for over fifty-two years, worked with the Salvation Army for thirty
years, and served ten years as a board member of Palmetto Legal Aid
Services; and
Whereas, Mr. Lynch retired from Mount Vernon Mills after a forty-eight
year career and during his employment with Mount Vernon was a
member of the AFL-CIO where he was an executive board member and
shop steward; and
Whereas, he had a keen interest in his fellow workers and the history of
the mill and because of this interest became involved with the South
Carolina Brown Lung Association where he was a past president and
also served on the HUD committee for the restoration of mill village
homes; and
Whereas, Colie Lynch was above all a devoted husband to his lovely
wife and a fine father to his son and daughter; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution,
would like to extend their sincere condolences to his family upon the
loss of this truly fine man. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby extend their deepest
sympathy to the family of Mr. Colie L. Lynch of West Columbia who
died during the legislative interim.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his
widow, Mrs. Louise Coker Lynch.
