WEATHERS FARMS INC., AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY
FRIENDS.

A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON THE DEATH OF MR. LAWRENCE MARTIN WEATHERS, PRESIDENT OF WEATHERS FARMS INC., AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Lawrence Martin Weathers, of Bowman, on Monday, March 19, 2007; and
Whereas, Mr. Lawrence Martin Weathers, born March 26, 1924, to George Whetsell Weathers and Gladys Shuler Weathers, graduated from Bowman High School in 1941 and attended The Citadel, following which he served as a United States Army sergeant for two years in Italy as part of the European Theater of Operations; and
Whereas, Mr. Weathers was President of Weathers Farms Inc. and a charter member of Bowman Southern Methodist Church, where he served on the board of stewards and as Sunday School secretary/treasurer for thirty-eight years; and
Whereas, as a part of his committed involvement with the community, Lawrence Martin Weathers was Director for the South Carolina Farm Bureau Dairy Division and a board member for Edisto Farm Credit Bank, Orangeburg County Development Board, and Palmetto Milk Producers Association; and
Whereas, in recognition of his dedicated service, Mr. Weathers received Clemson University's Leadership Award and was inducted into the Dairy Hall of Fame in 1990, in addition to being named Electric Cooperatives Man of the Year in 1968 and selected to the Marquis' Who's Who in America; and
Whereas, he is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Frances Landrum Weathers; son and daughter-in-law Landy and Susan Weathers, of Bowman; daughter and son -in-law Virginia and Charlie Vandagriff, of Monterey, California; son and daughter-in-law John Martin and Denise Weathers, of Townville; son and daughter-in-law Hugh and Blanche Weathers, of Bowman; eight grandchildren; and a brother, George Whetsell Weathers, Jr., of Orangeburg, his sister, Virginia Weathers Thompson, having predeceased him on March 9, 2007. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mr. Lawrence Martin Weathers, President of Weathers Farms Inc., and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Frances Landrum Weathers.
