A Concurrent Resolution to express the pride of the General Assembly and the
people of South Carolina in the Andrew Bethea family of New Town in Dillon
County who has five sons and a daughter-in-law serving in the Armed Forces in
Saudi Arabia, and to invite Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bethea to be recognized in the
Hall of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, February 26, 1991, at 12:30
p.m., for this contribution to the defense of our country and to the defense
of freedom in the world.

A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE PRIDE OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND
THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN THE ANDREW BETHEA
FAMILY OF NEW TOWN IN DILLON COUNTY WHO HAS FIVE
SONS AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW SERVING IN THE ARMED
FORCES IN SAUDI ARABIA, AND TO INVITE MR. AND MRS.
ANDREW BETHEA TO BE RECOGNIZED IN THE HALL OF THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26,
1991, AT 12:30 P.M., FOR THIS CONTRIBUTION TO THE
DEFENSE OF OUR COUNTRY AND TO THE DEFENSE OF
FREEDOM IN THE WORLD.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly with great pride have
learned that five brothers of the Andrew Bethea family in Dillon County
are presently serving in the Armed Forces in Saudi Arabia; and
Whereas, Andrew and Lular Bethea have been married for more than
fifty years and are blessed with ten children. The five Bethea brothers
serving in the Army in Saudi Arabia are: First Sgt. William R. Bethea,
age 47; SSG Lamont C. Bethea, age 36; SSG Charles Bethea, age 35;
Sgt. Alvin Bethea, age 32; and Pvt. Donald Bethea, age 27; and
Whereas, in addition to these five brave soldiers, the wife of SSG
Charles Bethea, Sgt. Lylia Bethea, is also stationed in Saudi Arabia, and
a grandson, E-4 Thesaurus Grice, age 20, is in the Army stationed at Fort
Stewart, Georgia; and
Whereas, the contributions of the Bethea family to the defense of
freedom is a credit not only to themselves but to their State and country
as well; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution,
would like to publicly recognize this outstanding American and South
Carolina family and express to them on behalf of all South Carolinians
their pride and gratitude for the courage, character, and patriotism of all
the members of the Bethea family and especially those who are now
serving in harm's way. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their pride
and that of the people of South Carolina in the Andrew Bethea family of
New Town in Dillon County who has five sons and a daughter-in-law
serving in the Armed Forces in Saudi Arabia, and invite Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Bethea to be recognized in the Hall of the House of
Representatives on Tuesday, February 26, 1991, at 12:30 P.M., for this
contribution to the defense of our country and to the defense of freedom
in the world.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr.
and Mrs. Andrew Bethea.
