TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF MOTHER JUDY SCOTT OF CHARLESTON AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS. Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened by the passing of Mother Judy Scott of Charleston on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at the venerable age of seventy-six; and Whereas, born on September 26, 1943, Mrs. Scott was a bright light in the lives of others; and Whereas, Mrs. Scott was a woman of profound religious belief, who drew great strength from her love for the Lord. The strength she summoned through her religious conviction and her love for others allowed her to transcend hatred, bigotry, violence, and personal tragedy; and Whereas, Mrs. Scott is preceded in death by her son, Walter L. Scott. In the aftermath of his death, she was a prominent figure whose presence was steadfast and calming. Her passionate voice carried forth messages of love, forgiveness, and faith in God that struck others with their power; and Whereas, Mrs. Scott will be remembered as a remarkable woman, who many believe they were profoundly fortunate and grateful to know; and Whereas, she went home to be with the Lord, as well as her son and all those loved ones who have transitioned before her; and Whereas, Mother Judy Scott leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Elder Walter Scott; her sons, Anthony Scott (Denise) and Rodney Scott (Jenerious); and a host of other family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Mother Judy Scott of Charleston and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Elder Walter Scott for the family.
