A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO COMMEND MR. WILLIAM ANDREW SANDIFER, PRINCIPAL OF
MACEDONIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN BARNWELL COUNTY, FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE
TO PUBLIC EDUCATION IN BARNWELL COUNTY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AS A
TEACHER AND ADMINISTRATOR.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND MR. WILLIAM ANDREW SANDIFER,
PRINCIPAL OF MACEDONIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN
BARNWELL COUNTY, FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE
TO PUBLIC EDUCATION IN BARNWELL COUNTY AND THE
STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AS A TEACHER AND
ADMINISTRATOR.
Whereas, Mr. William Andrew Sandifer has served as principal of
Macedonia Elementary School for Barnwell County School District
19 for thirteen years and has devoted his professional career to the
Blackville-Hilda public school system for more than twenty-six
years; and
Whereas, during his tenure as principal of Macedonia Elementary
School, a number of positive changes has taken place at the school.
These include an elementary school media center and office complex,
development of an outdoor environmental laboratory (M.A.R.S.H.),
construction of a new playground, planting of a butterfly garden,
development of a mentoring and volunteer tutoring program,
co-sponsorship of monthly educational television programs with Ruth
Patrick Science Center (USC-Aiken), and a weekly school-wide
television news program; and
Whereas, prior to being appointed principal, Mr. Sandifer served as
a teacher, coordinator of various district programs, and assistant
principal for the Blackville-Hilda public schools; and
Whereas, Mr. Sandifer also serves his community in a number of
other ways including service as chairman of fund raising projects for
the town of Hilda, a volunteer fireman, and a member of the local
SPCA, and Barnwell County Parenting and Advisory Board; and
Whereas, in 1981 he was named "Educator of the Year"
for Barnwell County, and in 1984 was nominated for "Who's
Who in Education"; and
Whereas, Mr. Sandifer is a member of Double Pond Baptist Church
of Blackville where he serves as active deacon, song leader, Sunday
School teacher, and directs activities for children and youth. He is the
husband of Hazel L. Sandifer, father of a daughter, Shannon, and a
son, Brandon; and
Whereas, William Sandifer is greatly respected, loved, and admired
throughout the towns of Blackville and Hilda and the County of
Barnwell and these are truly better places because of the generous
contributions of his time, talents, energy, and resources; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this
resolution, are desirous of publicly recognizing and commending Mr.
Sandifer for his many contributions as an educator to children and
families of Barnwell County and for his other important contributions
as a community and church leader. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives hereby commend
Mr. William Andrew Sandifer, principal of Macedonia Elementary
School in Barnwell County, for his many years of service to public
education in Barnwell County and the State of South Carolina as a
teacher and administrator.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Mr. William Andrew Sandifer.
