COUNTY FOR TWENTY YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE SENATE AND THE PEOPLE
OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE SENATOR GLENN F. MCCONNELL OF CHARLESTON COUNTY FOR TWENTY YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE SENATE AND THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, Senator Glenn F. McConnell has represented the people of Charleston and Dorchester Counties in the South Carolina Senate for 20 years, rising to the rank of ninth in seniority; and
Whereas, Senator McConnell is Charleston County's senior state senator and vice-chairman of the county legislative delegation; and
Whereas, Senator McConnell is a lifelong resident of the Charleston area and a son of the late Samuel W. and Evelyn McDaniel McConnell; and
Whereas, Senator McConnell is a graduate of the College of Charleston and the University of South Carolina School of Law; and
Whereas, Senator McConnell is the president of CSA Galleries, Inc. of North Charleston and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion; and
Whereas, Senator McConnell has served in numerous leadership roles in the Senate, serving as Chairman of the Rules Committee, Chairman of the Hunley Commission, Chairman of the African-American History Monument Commission, and as a member of the Judicial Screening Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee, and the Ethics Committee among many positions; and
Whereas, Senator McConnell has been honored for his legislative work by countless organizations including the National Business Association, the Greenville News, the Humane SPCA, the South Carolina Victim Assistance Network, and the Parents and Guardians Associations; and
Whereas, Senator McConnell is an avid Civil War re-enactor and is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Secession Camp #4, the S.C. Battleground Preservation Trust, the S.C. Palmetto Battalion, the Southern Heritage Association, the 27th Charleston Light Infantry and the 19th Indiana Iron Brigade Confederate, U.S. Marine Volunteers Re-enactors; and
Whereas, Senator McConnell has spent time in the national spotlight, including a role in the nationally broadcast film The Hunley, as well as appearances on the Phil Donahue Show, the Today Show, the CBS Morning Show, Inside Edition, and the Rolonda Show. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate congratulate Senator Glenn F. McConnell for his 20 years of service to the Senate and the people of South Carolina and wish him continued success.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Glenn F. McConnell.
