A Concurrent Resolution to recognize the ten students from six Greenville high
schools who have been chosen to play on the first girls basketball team that
will spend two weeks in Belgium with the Greenville Sister Cities
International Program and to congratulate them for their achievements.

A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE THE TEN STUDENTS FROM SIX GREENVILLE
COUNTY HIGH SCHOOLS WHO HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO PLAY
ON THE FIRST GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM THAT WILL SPEND
TWO WEEKS IN BELGIUM WITH THE GREENVILLE SISTER
CITIES INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM AND TO CONGRATULATE
THEM FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS.
Whereas, ten students from six Greenville County high schools have
been chosen to play on the first girls basketball team that will spend two
weeks in Belgium with the Greenville Sister Cities International
Program; and
Whereas, the ten girls selected to be on the team were interviewed by
Sister Cities officials and chosen to be a part of the first girls team
selected to go to Europe with Sister Cities; and
Whereas, the goal of the local Sister Cities Program is to introduce
Greenville students to other cultures; and
Whereas, one of the two coaches who will take the trip, Cindy
Mattos-Dehart, varsity basketball coach at Eastside High School, said:
"Basketball is important in teaching team skills and working
together, but it's not the number-one thing involving this trip"; and
Whereas, Ms. Mattos-Dehart and Kelly Moorhead of Wade Hampton
High School will accompany the students to Kortrijk, Belgium, one of
Greenville's two Sister Cities; and
Whereas, members of the team include: Jana Darby and Erin Olson of
Riverside High; Braeton Dillon and Karen Neeley of Eastside High; Joni
Dobson and Ashley Greene of Greer High; Daphne Michele Epting of
Blue Ridge High; Rhonda Penelope James and Lovee McKinney of
Southside High School; and Kelly Moorhead of Wade Hampton High
School; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives commend these
fine young ladies and their coaches for their accomplishments as they
proudly represent their State and Nation. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly recognize the ten students
from six Greenville County high schools who have been chosen to play
on the first girls basketball team that will spend two weeks in Belgium
with the Greenville Sister Cities International Program and congragulate
them for their achievements.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms.
Cindy Mattos-Dehart and Ms. Kelly Moorhead.
