Whereas, for almost twelve years, Dr. Amick served in the South Carolina Department of Education, first in the Office of Adult Education as an area supervisor from 1973 to 1980 and then in the Office of Vocational Education from 1980 to 1985; and
Whereas, from 1985 to 1997, she served as a curriculum coordinator for the South Carolina State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education, teaching and supervising for a year in the developmental education program at the Technical College of the Low Country in Beaufort, and then she served as the vice president for academic affairs at Denmark Technical College; and
Whereas, Dr. Amick began serving the University of South Carolina in Columbia as the dean of academic affairs in 1999 before entering her role as a legislative aide for the House of Representatives in January 2005; and
Whereas, for the last ten sessions of the General Assembly, she has assisted Representatives Wallace Scarborough, Ben Hagood, David Umphlett, Cathy Harvin, Patsy Knight, Alan Clemmons, Bill Bowers, Bill Crosby, Chris Murphy, and Joe Daning as a legislative aide; and
Whereas, she plans to spend many happy hours of retirement actively devoting herself as a lay leader in her church and baking her delicious cakes for the enjoyment of all those fortunate enough to benefit from her sumptuous creations; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Margaret Amick has devoted to the educational needs in our great State and wish her many years of enjoyment in her well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,
