S*1145 Session 123 (2019-2020) S 1145 Concurrent Resolution, By Verdin A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE JOE CARTER UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS TO COME.
TO CONGRATULATE JOE CARTER UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS TO COME. Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to recognize Joe Carter upon the occasion of his retirement; and Whereas, a native of Gastonia, North Carolina, Joe Carter was born on May 31, 1944; and Whereas, a veteran of the United States Army, he served from 1961 to 1964; and Whereas, after his military service, Joe began his career in jewelry with Roy's Jewelry in Gastonia, North Carolina, where he worked until 1968; and Whereas, in 1968, Joe went to work for Kay Jewelers, opening locations for them across the Southeast, including the Kay Jewelers in Greenwood, South Carolina; and Whereas, in 1982, Joe left Kay Jewelers and opened his own jewelry repair business, where he did repair work for several jewelry stores, before deciding to open his own jewelry store; and Whereas, in October 1983, Joe opened Carter Jewelers in Laurens, which served Laurens and the surrounding counties for the next thirty-six years; and Whereas, in July of 2019, Joe decided to retire so that he and his wife Linda could spend more time with their family and travel around the country; and Whereas, the General Assembly is grateful for the passion, commitment, and dedication that this son of South Carolina has shown in serving the State and the people of South Carolina. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring: That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Joe Carter upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for his many years of dedicated public service, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years to come. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Joe Carter.
