H. 5466

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF RICHARD NEAL GRIBBLE, SR., OF COLUMBIA, TO CELEBRATE HIS LIFE, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Richard Neal Gribble, Sr., on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at the venerable age of eighty-eight; and

Whereas, Richard was born in Charlotte on July 6, 1931, later moving to Columbia. A diligent and dedicated employee, he worked in the insurance industry in leadership capacities for many years. His expertise and technical knowledge made him uniquely qualified to serve as an advisor to three state departments of insurance regarding insurance premium financing, and as an advisor to South Carolina legislative committees pertaining to insurance premium financing; and

Whereas, known for his skill and ability in his field of expertise, the South Carolina House of Representatives commended Mr. Gribble's work in 1994, praising his creativity, leadership, knowledge, and tireless efforts; and

Whereas, outside of his work, Mr. Gribble was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the Camellia Ball, the Summit Club, and the Forest Lake Club. Also, enjoying spending time outdoors, he was an avid gardener keeping his home garden in constant year-round bloom; and

Whereas, Richard was married to his wife, Carolina Marshall Gribble, for sixty-three years. Experiencing all the joys and challenges that marriage holds, the couple had three children, the late Richard Neal Gribble, Jr., George Wilmot Marshall Gribble, and Carolina Lee Gribble Bryan. Together, Richard and Carolina were the proud grandparents of William King Bryan, III; and

Whereas, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Richard Neal Gribble, Sr., of Columbia, celebrate his life, and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Carolina Marshall Gribble on behalf of the family.
