A House Resolution to commend Mrs. Kay Black, a teacher with Lexington School
District Two, for her distinguished twenty-eight year career in education upon
her retirement.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND MRS. KAY BLACK, A TEACHER WITH
LEXINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, FOR HER
DISTINGUISHED TWENTY-EIGHT YEAR CAREER IN
EDUCATION UPON HER RETIREMENT.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives have learned
that Mrs. Kay Black will be retiring later this year after a
distinguished twenty-eight year career in public education with
Lexington School District Two; and
Whereas, she began her career at Congaree Elementary School
where she taught the fourth grade for three years and the fifth grade
for three years; and
Whereas, she then moved to Brookland-Cayce Grammar School
No. 1 where she taught the second grade for two years and
kindergarten for twenty years; and
Whereas, being a teacher is a special calling which requires special
gifts to mold the minds of the future leaders of our State and
nation, and this truly outstanding educator, without question, has
such gifts; and
Whereas, the members of the House, by this resolution, would like
to publicly recognize and thank her for the contributions she has
made to the public school system of Lexington School District Two
upon her retirement; and
Whereas, after retiring, she will have more time to spend with her
husband, Gary, and their two children, and she also will be able to
play golf more often, travel, and work with Our Savior Lutheran
Church in West Columbia to which she is devoted. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives hereby commend
Mrs. Kay Black, a teacher with Lexington School District Two, for
her distinguished twenty-eight year career in education upon her
retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Mrs. Kay Black.
