A SENATE RESOLUTION

COMMENDING JOHN G. "JERRY" BEASLEY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA TEXTILE MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION AND TO THE ECONOMIC AND ATHLETIC INTERESTS OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO WISH HIM AND HIS WIFE, ANN, WELL IN ALL THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, John G. "Jerry" Beasley, a native of Lamar, South Carolina, and a product of the Lamar Public Schools, attended Wofford College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1957; and

Whereas, he returned to the University in 1969 to serve as Vice President for Governmental Relations after gaining valuable experience in both private business and in government service; and

Whereas, Jerry put his valuable experience to work for the state's economic interests as Executive Vice President for the South Carolina Textile Manufacturers Association, beginning in 1974; and

Whereas, he plans to retire from that position on May 31, 1997, after twenty-three years; and

Whereas, Jerry's presence on the economic front will be sorely missed, but he will be the beneficiary of increased free time to pursue other loves in his life; and

Whereas, he will be able to spend more time with his wife, the former Ann Melnyk, his son and daughter, and his two grandchildren; and

Whereas, he will be able to continue his service to his community, which has included the Presidency of the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame, board membership on both the University of South Carolina and the Community College of the Air Force, and current board membership on the Advisory Board for the National Bank of South Carolina and service with the South Carolina Diabetic Association; and

Whereas, he will be able to play even more of the golf courses around the world, both for pleasure and in his service as a member of the Golf Digest Top 100 Golf Courses Selection Committee, and can continue his active support of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives commend John G. "Jerry" Beasley for his many years of dedicated service to the South Carolina Textile Manufacturers Association and to the economic and athletic interests of the State of South Carolina, and to wish him and his wife, Ann, well in their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to John G. "Jerry" Beasley.
