A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND DANIEL CHRISTOPHER "CHRIS" DRUMMOND OF CHARLESTON, ASSISTANT NEWS DIRECTOR OF WCSC-TV, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING EIGHTEEN YEAR CAREER IN TELEVISION NEWS UPON HIS LEAVING THE CHANNEL 5 NEWSROOM TO PURSUE OTHER GOALS AND INTERESTS AND TO WISH HIM THE VERY BEST IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate of South Carolina with deep regret have learned that Daniel Christopher "Chris" Drummond, Assistant News Director of WCSC-TV in Charleston will be leaving this position on Friday, April 13, 2001, to pursue other goals and interests; and

Whereas, Chris Drummond has been an integral part of the television news of Charleston and the Lowcountry for the past eighteen years; and

Whereas, he is a native of Massachusetts, moved to Charleston when he was five years old, and attended Pinewood School, Summerville School, and the Baptist College in Charleston; and

Whereas, Chris began his news career in 1983 as a temporary news editor with WCSC-TV after having worked in other jobs in the Summerville area and has worked with Channel 5 since that time except for a one year association as a producer with WBTV in Charlotte in 1987; and

Whereas, he is a valuable member of the Channel 5 news team and the WCSC family who will be deeply missed in the newsroom by his co-workers and all those with whom he has come into contact over his fine career. He is known as a person of integrity which combined with excellent ability and instincts makes him one of the best behind the camera television newspersons in the State; and

Whereas, Chris Drummond has also been an integral part of the Charleston and North Charleston communities in many civic and community endeavors. He has served on Crimestoppers Board and the Mt. Pleasant Planning Committee in addition to being the owner of a successful limousine business; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend him as he leaves WCSC-TV to pursue other goals and interests and to spend more time with his wife Michelle and their two young children. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate recognize and commend Daniel Christopher "Chris" Drummond of Charleston, Assistant News Director of WCSC-TV, for his outstanding eighteen year career in television news upon his leaving the Channel 5 newsroom to pursue other goals and interests and wish him the very best in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Drummond.
