 CELEBRATION OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE YMCA MOVEMENT AND
 THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA ACKNOWLEDGE
 WITH GREAT PRIDE THE NOBLE EFFORTS AND POSITIVE IMPACT OF THE ORGANIZATION IN
 BEAUFORT COUNTY.

TO RECOGNIZE THE BEAUFORT COUNTY YMCA ON THE CELEBRATION OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE YMCA MOVEMENT AND THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA ACKNOWLEDGE WITH GREAT PRIDE THE NOBLE EFFORTS AND POSITIVE IMPACT OF THE ORGANIZATION IN BEAUFORT COUNTY.

Whereas, the General Assembly takes great delight in celebrating the One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary of the YMCA movement in the United States and sincerely appreciates the Beaufort County YMCA's leading part in that movement; and

Whereas, the YMCA is dedicated to building strong children, strong families, and strong communities while serving people of all ages, incomes, and abilities through a wide variety of programs and services designed to meet changing needs. The YMCA has touched the lives of virtually all Americans, from pioneering, camping, public libraries, night schools, group swimming lessons and lifesaving, and teaching English as a second language to inventing basketball and volleyball; and

Whereas, the YMCA movement in the United States, which has a long history of partnership with other community organizations, such as schools, hospitals, and police departments, serves nearly eighteen million members each year and is volunteer-founded, volunteer-based, and volunteer-led; and

Whereas, the Beaufort County YMCA lives by its mission every day, "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all"; and

Whereas, the Beaufort County YMCA is part of a national movement that serves nine million children each year, that: is the nation's largest child care provider, currently serves one in ten teens, and incorporates the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into all of its programs. The YMCA provides a fun, affordable place for families to spend time together, as well as offering social programs for seniors and healthy programs for everyone in the community; and

Whereas, the One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary of the YMCA movement will draw special attention to the distinguished history of the organization and to the benefits that the people of South Carolina have enjoyed as a result of the proud tradition of this organization. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize the Beaufort County YMCA on the celebration of the One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary of the YMCA movement and acknowledge with great pride the noble efforts and positive impact of the organization in Beaufort County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Beaufort County YMCA.
