H*5175 Resolution, By J. Brown
A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO COMMEND MR. PAUL WADE FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED
SERVICE TO HIS COUNTRY, STATE, AND COMMUNITY AND TO RECOGNIZE HIM AS ONE OF
 SOUTH CAROLINA'S MOST OUTSTANDING CITIZENS.

04/24/02 House Introduced and adopted HJ-35

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MR. PAUL WADE FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO HIS COUNTRY, STATE, AND COMMUNITY AND TO RECOGNIZE HIM AS ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S MOST OUTSTANDING CITIZENS.

Whereas, Mr. Paul Wade was born in Jackson, Mississippi, where he attended public schools; he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in industrial arts from Jackson College and later received his Masters of Education degree from New York University; and

Whereas, Mr. Wade began his long and extraordinary teaching career at Booker T. Washington High School in 1955 and retired at A.C. Flora High School in 1987 after thirty-two years of educating young people; and

Whereas, Paul Wade proudly served his country in the United States Army as both an active personnel and a reservist for thirty-seven years; he joined the Army in 1946 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1983; his service was distinguished by his being awarded the Army Achievement Medal in 1982 and the Army Commendation Medal in 1983; and

Whereas, a faithful member of Second Calvary Baptist Church, Paul Wade served his church family as chairman of the trustee board for thirteen years; and

Whereas, Paul Wade is a very active member of his community through his involvement in the Brotherhood Club and the Social Action Committee; he has served as Chairman of the Concerned Citizens Club for Farrow Terrace and Farrow Hills for twenty-two years and currently serves as the treasurer for several local and statewide civic organizations; and

Whereas, Mr. Wade has remained true to his roots through the Jackson State University Alumni Association, but he has become a Midlands stalwart, as part of the Eau Claire Community Development Council and the Greenview Park Senior Club, as he has worked to further the progress of minorities in the area by being a board member of the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and a life member of the NAACP; and

Whereas, Paul Wade is not one to let the joys of life pass him by, as he loves spending time gardening, fishing, planting flowers, keeping his yard manicured, listening to music, and decorating his home and yard for holidays; and

Whereas, Mr. Wade and his wife Yvonne will celebrate forty-nine years of marriage in December of 2002; he and his wife are the proud and loving parents of nine children and are blessed with fourteen grandchildren; and

Whereas, it is fitting that the members of the Senate now pause to reflect on the life of service and leadership that Paul Wade has lived as a soldier, educator, and community activist and to thank him for all he does to make the Palmetto State a better place to live. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Mr. Paul Wade for his many years of dedicated service to his country, state, and community and recognize him as one of South Carolina's most outstanding citizens.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Paul Wade of Richland County.
