 FACULTY, AND STAFF FOR THEIR GENEROSITY EXHIBITED BY THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISER FOR
 THE VALLEY EMPTY STOCKING FUND.

TO RECOGNIZE THE MIDLAND VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF FOR THEIR GENEROSITY EXHIBITED BY THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISER FOR THE VALLEY EMPTY STOCKING FUND.

Whereas, Midland Valley High School in Aiken County annually undertakes fundraising efforts supporting the Valley Empty Stocking Fund, a campaign that has provided assistance to needy families throughout the Horse Creek Valley area for thirty years; and

Whereas, the students, faculty, and staff spend many hours during the year dedicated to raising money for the fund, and the classes compete in an effort to raise the most money. The senior class raised the most in 2002, earning the president the right to throw a pie in the face of each of the other three class presidents; and

Whereas, Midland Valley High School hosts an annual Christmas Assembly where the school presents a check to the Valley Empty Stocking Fund; and

Whereas, the outstanding fundraising efforts by Midland Valley High School account for one third of the donations brought in by the fund; and

Whereas, Midland Valley High School has raised ten thousand dollars in each of the past two years and nine thousand dollars in 2000. The hard work of the students and faculty has provided assistance to more than two hundred families in the Horse Creek Valley area; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate are proud to honor Midland Valley High School for its tireless efforts to make the holiday season more joyous for the needy families in the area. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, recognize the Midland Valley High School students, faculty, and staff for their generosity exhibited by the annual fundraiser for the Valley Empty Stocking Fund.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Midland Valley High School in Aiken County.
