A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON THE DEATH OF MR. ALLEN FRAZIER OF RIDGE SPRING FOLLOWING THE TRAGIC TRAIN DERAILMENT IN GRANITEVILLE ON JANUARY 6, 2005, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Allen Frazier of Ridge Spring following the catastrophic Graniteville train derailment and chemical spill on January 6, 2005; and

Whereas, this loss is felt deeply in the community and in the Gregg Plant where Mr. Frazier worked as a dedicated and experienced Third Shift Supervisor; and

Whereas, Mr. Frazier was a life-long resident of Aiken County and a graduate of Midland Valley High School. He was an Avondale associate his entire adult life, starting with the company in 1968; and

Whereas, he was known throughout the company for his dependability, dedication to his job, and caring attitude. He was always willing to take time and listen to someone's problems which added to the respect he garnered from the associates working under him; and

Whereas, Mr. Frazier loved spending time with his family and was an enthusiastic cook who enjoyed discussing the various meals he prepared with his friends; and

Whereas, he was a devoted husband to his wife Alicia and a proud father to two sons and a daughter; Quincy, also an Avondale employee, Jeffery, and Celita. Two brothers, six sisters, and one stepsister also survive him; and

Whereas, Mr. Allen Frazier earned the respect and admiration of all who knew and loved him, and the South Carolina Senate is proud to honor him and acknowledge this great loss to the community and State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mr. Allen Frazier of Ridge Spring following the tragic train derailment in Graniteville on January 6, 2005, and extend our deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Alicia Frazier of Aiken County.
