EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON THE PASSING OF CHARLES "KEN" SWEATT OF LEXINGTON, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Charles "Ken" Sweatt of Lexington on October 4, 2013; and
Whereas, Mr. Sweatt was born October 4, 1944 and attended Eau Claire High School where he played football and graduated in 1964; and
Whereas, after serving his country as a United States Marine, Mr. Sweatt joined the Columbia Police Department in 1966 and retired as a lieutenant in 1997; and
Whereas, Mr. Sweatt graduated from the FBI Academy, participated in the protection of many United States presidents, was an honorary appointee to the staff of the Alabama attorney general, and was made an honorary colonel and aide de camp to the Mississippi governor's staff; and
Whereas, after his retirement he served as head of special operations for the Bureau of Protective Services; and
Whereas, Mr. Sweatt enjoyed fishing, watching college football, spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, and cooking; and
Whereas, Mr. Sweatt leaves behind his wife, Wanda Sweatt, two sons, Cody Sweatt and Bryant Sweatt, a daughter, Roxanne Sweatt and stepson Steve Rabon, grandchildren Victoria, Brandon, Alivia Rabon and Taylin Kneece, his mother, Margaret Oats Sweatt, his sister, Brenda Beckham, his brother, Ronald Sweatt, and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Charles "Ken" Sweatt of Lexington and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Charles "Ken" Sweatt.
