S 0043 Joint Resolution, By Passailaigue
    A Joint Resolution proposing an amendment to Section 2, Article III, of the Constitution of South Carolina, 1895, relating to the House of Representatives, so as to provide that beginning in 1992, members of the House of Representatives shall be chosen every fourth year, to provide that such members shall not serve more than three consecutive terms, to provide exemptions for members presently serving; and, proposing an amendment to Section 6, Article III, of the Constitution, relating to the Senate, so as to provide that beginning in 1992, members of the Senate shall be elected for the term of six years, to provide that such members shall not serve more than two consecutive terms, and to provide exemption for members presently serving; and proposing an amendment to Sections 3 and 4 of Article IV of the Constitution, relating to the election of Governor and the term of Governor, so as to provide that no person elected Governor may succeed himself in the office but shall be re-eligible, and to provide that the term of office of Governor shall be six years, beginning in 1994.
