Summary: School district residence qualifications
    AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 59-63-31, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO QUALIFICATIONS FOR ATTENDANCE AT PUBLIC SCHOOLS, SO AS TO ADD THE RESIDENCE OF A CHILD IN A PARTICULAR SCHOOL DISTRICT AS A RESULT OF A PARENT'S OR LEGAL GUARDIAN'S MILITARY DEPLOYMENT; BY ADDING SECTION 59-63-35 SO AS TO ALLOW NONRESIDENT MILITARY PERSONNEL TO ENROLL IN A PROGRAM TO AWARD A SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND TO PROVIDE THAT NEITHER THE STATE NOR THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT SHALL BEAR THE COST OF ENROLLMENT; AND TO PROVIDE THAT A NONRESIDENT MEMBER OF THE ARMED FORCES WHO HAS MAINTAINED CERTAIN SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS WITH THE STATE IS CONSIDERED A RESIDENT FOR PURPOSES OF TITLE 59. - ratified title
