A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 20-7-670, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES' AUTHORITY TO INVESTIGATE ABUSE AND NEGLECT IN RESIDENTIAL INSTITUTIONS AND FOSTER HOMES, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, INSTEAD OF THE OMBUDSMAN OF THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, SHALL INVESTIGATE AN ALLEGATION OF ABUSE OR NEGLECT OF A CHILD WHERE THE CHILD IS IN THE CUSTODY OF OR A RESIDENT OF A PUBLIC OR PRIVATE HEALTH FACILITY, INSTITUTION, OR AGENCY LICENSED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL OR OPERATED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH.
