commending this great leader for his dedication and outstanding service to
humanity.

A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE REVEREND OLIVER T. HILL OF
GREENVILLE COUNTY ON HIS SILVER ANNIVERSARY AS
A MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL, AND COMMENDING THIS
GREAT LEADER FOR HIS DEDICATION AND
OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO HUMANITY.
Whereas, the Reverend Oliver T. Hill of Greenville County is
celebrating this year his silver anniversary as a minister of the
Gospel; and
Whereas, Reverend Hill attended the public schools of Greenville
County and graduated from Sterling High School, where he
participated in high school athletics; and
Whereas, he received a B.A. degree from Morris College in 1977
and is the recipient of a Master of Divinity degree from the
Divinity School of Duke University; and
Whereas, he has worked as a counselor for the Housing Authority
for the City of Greenville and has provided guidance and
counseling assistance for persons in need of public housing; and
Whereas, he works as an instructor of religion at the School of
Religion at Morris College in Sumter, and he works as an instructor
of church history, systematic theology, church administration,
church and community problems, African American church studies,
pastoral counseling and practicum, psychology of religion,
sociology of religion, philosophy of religion, Black theology,
Baptist Church policy, and the history of the Baptist denomination;
and
Whereas, Reverend Hill has worked in the South Carolina Congress
of Christian Education for more than twenty years as director and
coordinator of the youth division; and
Whereas, he has also served as an athletic coach to the young men
of various communities in the sports of basketball, football, and
baseball, and he serves as a representative of the Board of Trustees
of Greenville Technical College; and
Whereas, he is the president of the Community Leadership
Breakfast Group, which is composed of a variety of persons from
different walks of life who work for a better quality of life for
African Americans at the local and state levels; the Community
Leadership Breakfast Group, through its distinguished president,
conducts voter registration and gets people out to vote; Reverend
Hill has helped all of the African Americans who have won
elections in Greenville County to attain their public offices; and
Whereas, Reverend Hill is a devoted churchman and has succeeded
wonderfully over the years in ministering to the spiritual needs of
the people he has served as a minister of the Gospel; he is presently
the pastor of Beaverdam Baptist Church of Enoree, where he has
served the last fourteen years, and he is highly regarded as a great
preacher of the Gospel; and
Whereas, he has worked hard to improve the quality of life of all
people inside and outside the State and has truly made a difference
in America; and
Whereas, he is a dynamic individual and leader and is tremendously
respected, admired, and loved by all who have known him over the
years; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to
have the opportunity to recognize and honor such a distinguished
person. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, congratulates the Reverend Oliver T. Hill of Greenville
County on his silver anniversary as a minister of the Gospel and
commends this great leader for his dedication and outstanding
service to humanity.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
the Reverend Oliver T. Hill.
