PreviousWINGARDNext, OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, PreviousWINGNext COMMAND CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT OF THE 169TH FIGHTER PreviousWINGNext OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA AIR NATIONAL GUARD, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS FORTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina General Assembly honors those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves to the welfare of this great State's citizenry; and

Whereas, Terry D. PreviousWingardNext, retiring PreviouswingNext command chief master sergeant of the 169th Fighter PreviousWingNext of the South Carolina Air National Guard (SCANG), stands among their number as an outstanding public servant, one much admired in his role as a military leader; and

Whereas, born in Lexington, Chief PreviousWingardNext was graduated from Lexington High School. He entered the South Carolina Air National Guard in 1968 and began his career as an aircraft mechanic crew chief at McEntire Air National Guard Station in Eastover. During the course of his career, Chief PreviousWingardNext held many maintenance operations flight positions until his promotion to PreviouswingNext command chief master sergeant of the 169th Fighter PreviousWingNext, where he was responsible for advising the PreviouswingNext commander on all of the affairs concerning the enlisted force of the 169th Fighter PreviousWingNext and its units; and

Whereas, Chief PreviousWingardNext served in many Southwest Asia deployments with the South Carolina Air National Guard. He participated in Operation Desert Storm-Saudi Arabia, Operation Southern Watch-Qatar, Operation Northern Watch-Turkey, and Operation Iraqi Freedom-Qatar; and

Whereas, for his military accomplishments, he has been granted numerous decorations and awards, among them the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Combat Gold Border, South Carolina Military Department Extraordinary Achievement Medal, and South Carolina Military Department Exceptional Service Medal; and

Whereas, Chief PreviousWingardNext also has served the South Carolina Air National Guard in voluntary roles, as may be seen in his work as vice president for the Noncommissioned Officer Academy Graduate Association, a national organization dedicated to the promotion of continued education for enlisted Air National Guardsmen. Chief PreviousWingardNext and his wife, the former Hope Corley, were named State Family of the Year by the South Carolina Air National Guard for their outstanding example of volunteer service and continued dedication to SCANG and Family Readiness; and

Whereas, the couple raised a fine family of three children, son Troy, a University of Georgia graduate presently working as a university professor; daughter Lisa, a University of South Carolina graduate, now a homemaker, wife, and mother; and son Jason, an Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University graduate currently working in civil aviation; and

Whereas, having made his mark and set the bar of achievement extraordinarily high in his profession, Terry D. PreviousWingardNext will be remembered with affection and gratitude by colleagues and legislative friends for years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Terry D. PreviousWingardNext, of Lexington County, PreviouswingNext command chief master sergeant of the 169th Fighter PreviousWingNext of the South Carolina Air National Guard, upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for his forty years of dedicated service, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Chief PreviousWingard.
