A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO CHIEF LONNIE JO SAXON FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO CLEMSON UNIVERSITY IN THE AREA OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND PreviousWISHINGNext HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Chief Lonnie Jo Saxon grew up in Anderson County; he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1962 and served until 1966; he had fourteen months in combat, was a recipient of the Purple Heart, and was promoted to sergeant in 1966; and

Whereas, Chief Saxon's stellar law enforcement career began in 1967 at the City of Easley Police Department, and he went on to become Chief Deputy of Pickens County; he began working with the Clemson University Police Department in 1989 and quickly rose to the rank of chief of that department; he is a security advisor for First Baptist Church of Easley, a Mason at Bates Lodge 189, and a charter member of the Civitan Club; and

Whereas, Chief Saxon is retiring from law enforcement in June 2002 and will be deservedly honored on May 28, 2002 for his years of outstanding service to Clemson University; and

Whereas, we are delighted to have the opportunity to recognize in this special way the contributions and accomplishments of Chief Lonnie Jo Saxon and to PreviouswishNext him much success and happiness in the future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express deepest appreciation to Chief Lonnie Jo Saxon for his outstanding service to Clemson University in the area of law enforcement and Previouswish Chief Saxon much success and happiness upon his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Chief Saxon.
