Whereas, PreviousEdwardNext H. Sexauer, a native of Missouri, devoted most of his adult life and work to educational television and public service for the benefit of the people of South Carolina and is retiring after a distinguished career at WRJA-TV in Sumter; and

Whereas, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1956, served as a lieutenant for two years in the United States Army, assigned to a medical battalion of the Third Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Georgia; and

Whereas, following military service, Ed Sexauer completed two years of graduate work at UCLA in radio and television. In February, 1961, he began working at WIS-TV in Columbia as a member of that station's production staff. In 1967, he transferred to WSFA-TV in Montgomery, Alabama, where he served as operations director and assistant program manager for seven years; and

Whereas, Mr. Sexauer joined the WRJA-TV staff in Sumter in January, 1975, having accepted a job with South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) as one of the original staff members who helped build the WRJA-TV station in Sumter for its September 7, 1975, sign-on; and

Whereas, Mr. Sexauer quickly became program manager for the newly organized WRJA-TV in Sumter, and he has served in that position since that time; and

Whereas, one of his primary achievements at WRJA has been his contribution as producer and director of "Chamber Perspective", a program which is presented on a monthly basis in cooperation with the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce. He was selected as an Outstanding Achievement Award winner for his efforts with "Chamber Perspective" and for his promotion of the chamber and the Sumter community through SCETV; and

Whereas, Mr. Sexauer has also served as producer for "Waccamaw Magazine", a program broadcast monthly in Conway over SCETV station WHMC-TV. He has rendered invaluable public service to people of South Carolina by producing many custom video presentations for state government agencies, local governments, and the public school system during his career; and

Whereas, Mr. Sexauer's work with SCETV and WRJA-TV has been an inspiring example of continued excellence; his personal achievements, team efforts, and outstanding leadership have taken educational television to new heights, and his abilities have assured that thousands of South Carolinians have learned from and enjoyed quality educational television; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate want Mr. Sexauer, who is retiring from educational television and public service this year, to know that the members of the Senate deeply appreciate his efforts and contributions rendered over many years to the citizens and the State of South Carolina, and, further, we wish him much happiness and success in all of his future endeavors. Now, therefore,
